MWR denotes Mizunara Wood Reserve, a vatting concept that has become one of Chichibu's most recognised recurring releases and a useful showcase of Ichiro Akuto's cask programme using Japanese oak alongside American wood.

The Ex-Bourbon component supplies the fresh fruit, malt extract and hay-like cereal character noted in the profile, while the mizunara casks layer on a distinctive sandalwood incense and subtle coconut note, the result of Japanese oak's slow, porous maturation influence. Chocolate and citrus accents weave through the finish, and the measured 46% strength keeps the integration clean and balanced.
