Description
The Floor Malted series marks one of Chichibu's most distinctive production statements: the distillery malts a portion of its own barley on-site, a rare practice among modern Japanese distilleries and a direct connection to the heritage Ichiro Akuto was honouring when he founded Venture Whisky in Saitama in 2008. This expression, distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2012, is a vatted rather than single cask release aimed at the global market.
Three years in Ex-Bourbon wood keeps the profile clean and grain-forward, with the fresh cereal and orchard-fruit character that floor malting and lightly used American oak produce together. At 50.5% the presentation is still at full strength for the release format, retaining the creamy texture and the subtle waxy quality that Chichibu's house style brings even at this young age.
