Description
One of the earliest Chichibu single cask releases, this bottling was distilled in 2009 and drawn after just three years in 2012, released under the Port Pipe series label for the Netherlands market. Venture Whisky founder Ichiro Akuto released single casks at very young ages in the distillery's opening years, offering collectors a transparent look at the developing spirit from Saitama.
The maturation data for this cask indicates Ex-Bourbon wood, which at three years gives vanilla, fresh citrus and cereal sweetness without the deeper fruit layers that longer ageing would develop. At 61% cask strength the new-make energy is present and forward, a characteristic of very young Chichibu that has its own directness. The Port Pipe series name refers to the release line rather than the specific cask type here.
