Description
Distilled in 2010 at Chichibu in Saitama and bottled in 2016 after six years, this single cask expression from Venture Whisky's Ichiro's Malt label was released for the Japanese domestic market. It is one of a series of vintage single casks that documented the 2010 distillation year across different ages, sitting a year on from the inaugural 2009 vintage that made the distillery's name.
Six years in an Ex-Bourbon cask follows the pattern that defines much of Chichibu's output at this age: vanilla, ripe apple and a sweet cereal note that American oak amplifies without obscuring the distillery's fruit-forward character. At 61.3% cask strength the spirit retains its full texture and the gentle coconut-and-vanilla warmth typical of this cask and age combination from the Saitama site.
