Description
Chichibu distillery in Saitama releases occasional named series and collections alongside its standard single-cask programme, and the Glover Collection is among those directed at the Japanese domestic market. Bottled by Venture Whisky in 2022 from a 2013 vintage single cask, the release honours a figure connected to the history of Japan's engagement with Scotch whisky, placing the liquid in a historical as well as tasting context.
Eight years in an Ex-Bourbon barrel provided the maturation framework, producing the vanilla, tropical fruit and soft caramel that American oak reliably delivers to Chichibu's bright new make. At 61% cask strength, the bottling carries full concentration without the edge of the highest-ABV single casks, making the fruit and wood integration clear and accessible. The finish is warm and clean, with the distillery's characteristic barley sweetness and fresh fruit persisting through to the end.
