Description
Chichibu distillery in Saitama works with specialist importers and retailers around the world to release individually selected single casks into specific markets. This 2013 vintage was bottled by the distillery for Paul Ullrich, a Swiss wine and spirits merchant, after six years of maturation, making it part of a global single-cask network that places Chichibu alongside the great Scotch independents in terms of retail reach.
Matured in a single Ex-Bourbon barrel, six years produced the characteristic Chichibu profile from American oak: vanilla, fresh orchard and tropical fruit, and a soft cereal sweetness underpinned by a light wood frame. At 63.4% cask strength, the bottling is one of the higher-ABV expressions in this style, delivering the full concentration of the cask to the glass. The Swiss market selection reflects the consistent quality of Chichibu's 2013 distillation vintage, which has produced a wide range of successful single-cask releases.
