Description
Cask #1884 from Chichibu's 2012 vintage was selected by La Maison du Whisky and released in 2021 as a nine-year-old single-cask bottling for the French market. Chichibu in Saitama, Venture Whisky's distillery founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2008, places individual casks with specialist retailers and importers around the world as single-cask releases.
Nine years in Ex-Bourbon wood gives the spirit a comfortable roundness, with vanilla, warm cereal and the distillery's characteristic stone fruit and orchard notes now integrated rather than assertive. At 55.6% from a single cask the delivery is full but composed, presenting the 2012 vintage at a stage where Ex-Bourbon's contribution is clearly established without overwhelming the distillery's inherently fruit-forward new make character.
