Description
Chichibu 8 Years Old 2014 Cask 3822 is an Adelphi independent bottling of Saitama malt drawn from a single Ex-Bourbon cask filled at Chichibu distillery in 2014 and bottled in 2024. Chichibu, the Saitama distillery founded by Ichiro Akuto under Venture Whisky, is rarely offered by independent bottlers, and an 8 year old cask represents a more mature selection than most Chichibu independents in circulation. The European market release gives whisky buyers on the continent access to a distillery whose own releases are heavily allocated.
Bottled at 56.4% cask strength, the profile combines fragrant, floral notes with fresh orchard fruit and the slightly waxy, oily texture that develops in Chichibu malt over longer maturation. Old wood spice rounds out the finish, the extended bourbon-cask contact beginning to show a drier, more structured side of the distillery's character alongside the house fruitiness.
