The 7EVEN Gods of Fortune series from Chichibu Distillery in Saitama pairs a collector's presentation with the substance of genuine single cask releases. Edition 5 is dedicated to Fukurokuju, the god of wisdom, luck and longevity, and draws from a 2015 distillation matured eight years in Ex-Bourbon wood before bottling in 2024 at 61% for the European market.
Eight years in bourbon barrel gives Fukurokuju a rounded and integrated profile: vanilla and toasted grain from American oak sit in balance with Chichibu's characteristic orchard fruit and fresh cereal, and the finish carries a warm, easy spice. At 61% the release is one of the gentler cask strengths in this vintage range, making it a more approachable entry point into Chichibu's single cask programme without sacrificing the intensity that defines distillery bottlings.
