Chichibu 7 Years Old 2017 Cask #7826 (LMDW)

Cask number 7826 is a 2017 vintage Chichibu single malt drawn from an Ex-Bourbon barrel, selected by La Maison du Whisky and bottled in 2024 at 63.4% for the French market. Chichibu distillery in Saitama prefecture is Venture Whisky's craft flagship, founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto, and the LMDW partnership has long been one of the most active relationships in the distillery's international single cask programme.

Seven years in an Ex-Bourbon barrel builds the expected vanilla and warm wood spice framework from the American oak, with Chichibu's fruit-forward new make providing sweetness and orchard brightness alongside. The noted cooked vegetable character gives this particular cask a distinctive savoury angle that sets it apart from the distillery's sweeter Ex-Bourbon bottlings, adding complexity and depth to what might otherwise be a more conventionally approachable profile. At 63.4% cask strength it is concentrated and layered.
