Description
Chichibu 7 Years Old 2013 Cask 3090 is an independent bottling selected by Adelphi from Chichibu distillery in Saitama. Chichibu, the small-batch distillery founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto under Venture Whisky, is rarely available through independent bottlers, and an Adelphi selection represents an unusual route to the distillery's malt in single-cask form. The whisky was distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2023 after seven years in a single Ex-Bourbon cask, making it a mid-aged expression by the standards of the range.
Bottled at 57.8% cask strength, the profile spans citrus brightness, fresh orchard fruit and a fragrant, floral delicacy, with cooked-vegetable depth, a nutty quality and a coal-gas note adding savoury complexity. Adelphi have selected a cask that shows both the vivid fruitiness of Chichibu new make and the more structured, mature notes that come with seven years in bourbon wood.
