Description
Cask number 3537 from Chichibu in Saitama was distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2018 at 7 years old for The Whisky Exchange, one of the UK's most prominent specialist retailers. The release was directed to events and arrives at cask strength by Venture Whisky and founder Ichiro Akuto.
The maturation is a single Stout cask, and the noted flavour profile of medicinal and fresh fruit reflects the interplay between the distillery's characteristic bright new make and the darker, roasted-grain character that beer-seasoned barrels contribute. The medicinal note, which can appear in Chichibu expressions where the spirit and the cask type have interacted in a particular direction, sits alongside the fresh-fruit baseline that the distillery typically delivers from its Saitama warehouse.
