Description
At 10 years old, this Chichibu single cask is among the more maturely aged releases from Venture Whisky's Saitama distillery, distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2021 for La Maison du Whisky in France. The extra time in wood relative to many Chichibu releases gives the spirit a steadier, more settled character while preserving the house's fruit-forward vitality.
The maturation is a single Ex-Bourbon cask, the most common vessel in Chichibu's warehouse and the one that shows the distillery's orchard-fruit new make most clearly. Ten years in American oak builds vanilla, tropical fruit and a measured woodiness without masking the underlying brightness. Cask number 5578 arrives at 57.4%, a cask strength that suits the more developed character of a decade-old spirit from this celebrated Saitama producer.
