Château Pesquié makes this Ventoux rosé from Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah grown high beneath Mont Ventoux in the southern Rhône. Pale pink, fresh and dry, it shows strawberry, peach and a herbal, mineral lift, farmed organically and biodynamically.
Description
Château Pesquié sits in the AOC Ventoux, on the southeast edge of the Rhône valley beneath Mont Ventoux, the highest mountain in Provence. This rosé blends Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah, farmed organically and biodynamically on the estate's terraces. The altitude and the cool air spilling off Mont Ventoux give a wide day to night temperature range that slows ripening and preserves the bright acidity, while the limestone and clay soils hold freshness through a warm growing season. The grapes are harvested young and pressed gently to draw a pale, delicate juice, and a cool fermentation keeps the primary fruit and the crisp line intact in an unoaked style. The wine shows a pale pink hue and a nose of fresh strawberry and white peach, with white flowers and a herbal, garrigue edge. The palate is dry, fresh and light, with red berry and melon fruit, a citrus lift and a clean, mineral finish that reflects the cool, high terroir. Serve it well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It is a versatile rosé for the aperitif and for light summer food.
