Description
Château Pégau Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Lône is a white blend from Domaine du Pégau, one of the reference names of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which farms 70 hectares across 11 vineyards in the southern Rhône. The cuvée brings together four traditional Rhône white grapes: Clairette and Grenache Blanc for body and stone fruit, Bourboulenc for freshness and structure, and Ugni Blanc for acidity. The average vine age is around 40 years, giving depth and balance to the fruit. The warm Mediterranean climate of the southern Rhône ripens these varieties fully, so the wine leans to riper orchard and stone fruit than a cooler-climate white, while the field of grapes keeps it fresh. This is a young wine made under sustainable farming, vinified to protect its aromatics with no oak, so the fruit and the floral, herbal character stay to the front. The colour is pale gold. The nose shows white peach, pear, white flowers and a note of fennel. The palate is rounded and medium bodied, with ripe fruit balanced by a fresh, gently saline finish. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
