Description
Château Malartic-Lagravière is one of the classified estates of Pessac-Léognan, the heart of the white Graves in Bordeaux. It sits on an elevated gravel terrace above the Eau Blanche stream, and those deep beds of fine gravel drain freely and reflect warmth to the vines, which suits the estate's Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon and gives the wine its mineral backbone. The two grapes are fermented and aged in barrel, the classic white Graves method, where Sauvignon Blanc supplies the citrus lift and Semillon the weight and waxy texture. Barrel fermentation and ageing on the fine lees build a creamy, complex palate through lees contact and gentle oxygen exchange, while the oak is kept in a supporting role. The colour is pale gold with green glints. The nose is expressive and floral, with lemon, green pear and white flowers lifted by a hint of vanilla and citrus peel. The palate is creamy and full but framed by fresh acidity, with a saline, mineral finish that reflects the gravel. This is an ageworthy white built for the table. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees.

Additional information
The creamy texture and citrus lift suit grilled white fish, scallops and lobster in butter. It also carries roast chicken and hard nutty cheeses such as Comté. Serve with turbot in a beurre blanc.
