Château Gloria is a respected Saint-Julien estate, younger than its neighbours but built from well placed classified-growth plots. The 2025 is a Cabernet Sauvignon led blend aged 14 months in French oak, showing ripe cherry, blackcurrant and cedar.
Description
Château Gloria sits in the AOC Saint-Julien on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, an estate assembled in the 20th century from parcels among the appellation's best vineyards. Saint-Julien lies on deep gravel beds over clay and limestone near the Gironde, whose mass moderates the climate and lengthens the ripening season. The free draining gravel warms quickly and ripens Cabernet Sauvignon fully, while a wide day to night temperature swing preserves freshness and aroma. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The 2025 ages 14 months in French oak barrels, where gentle oxygen transfer through the wood softens the tannins and adds cedar, graphite and spice that frame the fruit. The wine is deep red, with a nose of ripe cherry, blackcurrant and plum over tobacco, pencil lead and dried earth. The palate is medium to full bodied and well structured, with rounded, savoury tannins and a long finish that reflects the gravel terroir. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees and decant an hour ahead. It pairs with roast lamb, beef and game.
