Description
Château Cantenac Brown sits in Margaux on the left bank of Bordeaux, an estate farmed organically and run by the Le Lous family since 2019. Margaux is built on deep Garonne gravel over clay and limestone, free draining soil that warms quickly and drives the roots deep, ripening Cabernet Sauvignon fully and lending the wine its fine grained tannin. The blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon for structure and cassis, with Merlot for flesh and Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for spice and lift. After fermentation, malolactic conversion lowers the malic acidity, then eighteen months in oak barrels rounds the tannins through slow oxygen exchange and adds the cedar, cocoa and pencil shavings that mark a classic Médoc. The 2025 is deep ruby, with ripe blackcurrant and blackberry over pencil shavings, tobacco and sweet spice. The palate is full and firmly structured, with dark fruit, ripe tannin and a long finish that will reward time in the cellar. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees and decant well ahead. It suits beef, lamb and game.
