Charrette L’épicé

Charrette is a familiar name from Reunion, an island whose distilleries make molasses rum, cane-juice rum and high-ester styles side by side. This L'epice is a spiced release built on a molasses base at 40%, so despite the island's agricole reputation it sits in the warm, flavoured camp.

Expect baking spice, warming aromatics and a soft sweetness rather than the dry, vegetal character of fresh cane juice. As a spiced rum it works well in cocktails and long drinks where the spice can lift the glass. An approachable, everyday flavoured pour rather than a serious sipping rum.
