Description

Chamarel Single Barrel 2010 comes from the Chamarel distillery in the south-west of Mauritius, an island making agricole-style rum outside the French AOC. It is distilled from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice on a column still and drawn from a single barrel of a 2010 vintage.

Bottled at 45%, this is a single-cask cane-juice rum where one barrel sets the character. Expect the grassy, vegetal heart of agricole softened by tropical ageing, with vanilla and oak from the wood, dry rather than sweet. A characterful Mauritian rum suited to neat sipping.
