Description
Chamarel is one of Mauritius's most respected distilleries, working in the agricole style from fresh pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses. This single barrel carries a 2008 vintage and nine years of tropical ageing in ex-bourbon oak.
As a cane juice rum from Mauritius it is agricole in style rather than AOC, but the hallmarks carry through, a grassy, herbaceous backbone given depth by the barrel. Nine years in tropical heat should bring vanilla, baking spice and toasted oak to that fresh cane core. Drawn from a single barrel and bottled dry at 45%.
