A dry, cask strength St. Lucia single cask of Chairman’s Reserve, pot still distilled and bottled by the distillery for the German market, intense with mango, raisin and roasted oak over spice and a wisp of smoke at 62.3%.
Description
Chairman's Reserve Master's Selection 2010 is a twelve year old single cask from St. Lucia Distillers, bottled by the distillery itself for the German market. Distilled on the John Dore pot still and matured in an ex bourbon barrel, it is offered unsweetened at cask strength, 62.3%, a serious step up from the standard Chairman's range and a showcase for the island's tropical fruit driven pot still style.
St. Lucia is prized for delivering a great deal of character at fair prices, and this cask runs with that reputation. The nose is full of oak, raisin, mango and vanilla, leading to a spicy, peppery palate framed by roasted oak, and a toasted finish of tannin, oak and lingering mango. There is a natural sweetness from molasses and a light smoky edge, but the spirit stays firmly dry and intense. At this strength a splash of water opens the tropical fruit basket further. A bold, full proof single cask for drinkers ready for more.
