Chairman’s Reserve Limited Edition by Jean-Baptiste

This Chairman's Reserve was bottled for Jean-Baptiste from the well regarded Saint Lucia Distillers, the island's principal producer, known for blending across pot and column stills. As a younger five year old expression it shows the lighter, more herbal side of the house style rather than the depth of the older Chairman's releases.

Made from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon wood, it was bottled at 40%. The nose offers spicy, roasted and woody notes with a clear thread of nutmeg, while the palate is comparatively light, leaning spicy and nutty with a herbal edge that some compare to a young, gently funky Caribbean blend. The finish is spiced and a little thin. This is an approachable, dry leaning everyday Saint Lucian rum, pleasant and soft for casual sipping, though those seeking richness and weight may want to look to the distillery's longer aged bottlings.
