Ceylon Arrack

Ceylon Arrack is a traditional Sri Lankan spirit, and a useful reminder that not everything grouped with rum is made from cane. This is distilled from the fermented sap of the coconut palm, harvested by hand and aged in vats of native Halmilla wood, bottled at 40%, a distinct island tradition in its own right.

The palm sap origin gives it a soft, gently tropical character quite unlike a cane rum. The nose is fruity and floral with coconut and a lightly roasted note, and the palate keeps that easy tropical fruit and coconut sweetness over a smooth, mellow body.
