Cervoles Garnatxa is a fresh, fruit driven Garnacha from Cervoles Celler in La Pobla de Cervoles, D.O. Costers del Segre. Grown at altitude in Lleida and aged just six months, it keeps the grape’s bright red fruit, floral lift and supple, perfumed character.
Description
Cervoles Garnatxa is produced by Cervoles Celler in La Pobla de Cervoles in Lleida, in Catalonia's D.O. Costers del Segre. The winery was founded by the Cusine family, who made their first vintage in 1997 and farm 32 hectares of vineyards planted at the end of the 1970s across ten plots. This is single variety Garnacha, a grape that gives bright, perfumed red wines when grown at altitude and handled gently. The high inland sites have a wide day to night temperature range that slows ripening and keeps the acidity and aromatics fresh, while the established vines crop in balance for clean, defined fruit. The wine is aged just six months in separate containers, a deliberately short, restrained elevage that protects the grape's delicate red fruit and floral character rather than building oak or tannin. As a result it is light to medium bodied and supple, with red berry, cherry and plum fruit, white flowers, a touch of pepper and a fresh, gently savoury finish. Serve lightly chilled at around 14 to 15C; it is versatile at the table and suits poultry, pork and lighter dishes.
