Centenario Real

Centenario Real is a column still rum from Fabrica Nacional de Licores in Costa Rica, bottled at 40% in a soft, dessert leaning Spanish style. It is built for comfort rather than challenge, a mellow, rounded rum aimed at relaxed evenings and easy sharing.

The nose carries caramel, sherry like sweetness and wood, and the palate is soft and very sweet with sugar, dried fruit, vanilla, cocoa and light toasted oak before a syrupy, chocolatey finish. This is a sweet, additive forward style, so it is honest to describe it as a rounded, sugary sipper rather than a dry one, and it shows little of the heat or funk found in heavier rums.
