Description
Rush Vi is a joint project between two Catalan winemaker friends, Edu Sanromà of Celler Sanromà and Esteve Gibert, each bringing their own vineyards and approach. It is made from Macabeo and Xarel·lo, two of the classic white grapes of Catalonia, farmed organically and made naturally. This is a young orange wine from the 2024 vintage, bottled at a modest 10 per cent alcohol. The juice takes skin contact, the must sitting on the grape skins so that the skins lend a light tannic grip and the golden tint, but the wine is made for early drinking and keeps its bright, energetic character rather than developing oxidative depth. Macabeo brings body and gentle stone fruit while Xarel·lo contributes acidity and a herbal, faintly saline edge typical of the grape. The wine is golden, with aromas of citrus peel, green apple and white peach lifted by white flowers and dried herbs. The palate is dry, light and fresh, with a fine skin grip and a clean, saline finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It suits white fish, shellfish and light salads, and drinks well as an aperitif.
