Maduresa is an organic field blend of Monastrell, Cariñena and recovered local varieties from Celler del Roure in Moixent, Valencia. Aged eleven months in French oak, it is complex and savoury, with ripe red and black fruit, pepper, nutmeg and subtle toast.
Description
Maduresa is produced by Celler del Roure, the family winery founded in 1996 in Moixent that farms its vineyards organically and has championed varieties native to inland Valencia since Pablo Calatayud took over. It is a blend built on Monastrell and Cariñena alongside other local red grapes, a traditional field mix that gives the wine its layered character. The vineyards sit at altitude in Les Alcusses, where the wide day to night temperature range slows ripening and locks in acidity and aromatic complexity, while organic farming keeps yields balanced and the fruit healthy. The wine is aged eleven months in French oak barrels. The oak provides a slow, steady oxygen exchange that knits the blend together and softens the tannins, adding light toast and spice without covering the fruit. It is medium bodied and expressive, with ripe red and black fruit, black pepper and nutmeg, a gentle earthiness and fine, savoury tannins on the finish. Serve at around 16 to 17C, decanted briefly; it works with roast meats, tomato based dishes and mushrooms.
