Celler Credo makes this organic Penedès rosé from a blend of historic local grapes including Sumoll, Garnacha, Monastrell and Xarel·lo, grown on dry-farmed plots. At 10.5% it is light, fresh and dry, with red berries, citrus and a vibrant edge.
Description
Celler Credo works in D.O. Penedès, in Catalonia, with a mosaic of dry-farmed organic plots that span different soils, exposures and altitudes. This rosé pays homage to the historic varieties of Penedès, blending Sumoll, Garnacha and Monastrell with a touch of the white Xarel·lo. Dry farming forces the vines deep for water, giving low yields of balanced, expressive fruit, and the range of plots adds complexity to the blend. The grapes are pressed and fermented cool in stainless steel to keep the wine fresh and the colour pale, with no oak. At 10.5% alcohol this is a deliberately light, low-alcohol rosé made for easy drinking. The colour is bright pale pink. The nose shows ripe strawberry and raspberry with a citrus and floral lift, and a faint redcurrant tartness. The palate is fresh, dry and vibrant, the red fruit framed by lively acidity and a clean, gently herbal finish. The low alcohol keeps it light on its feet and refreshing throughout. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It works as an aperitif and with salads, white fish and lighter dishes.
