A powerful 14 year Belize single cask from Compagnie des Indes, distilled at Travellers in 2007 and bottled at 67.1%, dry and woody with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, dried fruit and spice over a thick, oily body and long finish.
Description
CDI Travellers (Bottled for Perola) 2007 is a single cask Belize rum selected by Compagnie des Indes, the French house known for its terroir led, broad origin single casks under Florent Beuchet. Distilled at the Travellers distillery in 2007 and aged 14 years, it is bottled unsweetened at a serious 67.1%, a bold expression for those who like real strength.
Fourteen years in ex bourbon have built a dry, wood driven core. The nose shows woody spice, dried fruit and vanilla, the palate turns to spice, dark chocolate, roasted notes and dried fruit, and the finish runs long, spicy and roasty with deep wood. At this proof it needs plenty of time to open, a quarter hour in the glass coaxing out brighter citrus and floral tones beneath the chocolate and nuts. The texture is thick and oily, the alcohol well integrated for its power. A characterful, intense Belize single cask aimed squarely at experienced palates.
