Description
Compagnie des Indes, the terroir-led French bottler, selected this single cask of Ten Cane, the former LVMH Trinidad distillery, a 2012 vintage matured eleven years. CDI bottles its single casks naturally without added sugar, and at cask strength this shows the lighter Trinidad base spirit given real lift and definition rather than the thin, young character Ten Cane was once known for.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it leans bright and spicy, with spice, floral notes and orange on the nose and a palate of red fruit, bitter orange and oak. The finish carries spice, sour cherry and pepper. At 55.9% it has the strength to show off a fresher, fruitier side of Trinidad, a reminder that good cask selection and full proof can turn even a humble distillate into a lively single cask, suiting drinkers who like their rum dry, spiced and citrus-edged.
