An 11 year old single cask from Ten Cane in Trinidad, bottled by Compagnie des Indes at cask strength 55.9%, showing licorice, allspice and dried fruit over a floral, creamy palate with orchard-fruit lift.
Description
Compagnie des Indes is the French bottler known for terroir-led single casks from across the rum world, and this one draws on Ten Cane, a Trinidad distillate from the 2012 vintage. Released at eleven years old and a natural 55.9%, it is a single cask aged in ex-bourbon oak and bottled without sweetening.
The molasses spirit shows a spice-forward nose of licorice, allspice and dried fruit with a varnish edge, then opens on the palate into something softer and more fragrant, floral with orchard fruits and a creamy texture. At cask strength the spice and fruit carry real intensity while the body stays approachable, in keeping with the bottler's natural, undosed house style. It makes a characterful pour for drinkers who want a Trinidad single cask with more lift and detail than the island's lighter blends offer.
