A single-cask 2013 Jamaican from Compagnie des Indes, reportedly Long Pond, soft and fruity with banana, litchi and plum over a fruity, allspice finish, an approachable nine year old that keeps plenty of character despite its gentle reduction at 43%.
Description
CDI Secrete 2013 is a single-cask Jamaican from Compagnie des Indes, the respected, terroir-led French bottler, presented at nine years old. Reportedly sourced from Long Pond, the historic Trelawny Wedderburn house, it shows a softer, fruit-led side of the distillery rather than its loudest funk.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it opens with banana, litchi and tropical fruit, leading into a palate of dried fruit, plum and ripe fruit, with a fruity, allspice-touched finish. Even reduced to a gentler strength, it keeps plenty of character and fruit-forward charm. Bottled at 43% with dosage not declared, this is an approachable, well-made single cask that carries the Long Pond signature in a rounded, easygoing form, a good fit for drinkers who want Jamaican fruit without overproof intensity.
