Description
A single cask Foursquare from the 2011 vintage at 10 years, selected by Compagnie des Indes, the respected French bottler known for natural, terroir led single casks. Foursquare, Richard Seale's no additives distillery in St Philip, supplies the dry pot and column blend behind it.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at cask strength, this pick sits on the drier, more wood forward side of the distillery's range. Cocoa, dark chocolate and roasted nuts lead, with vanilla, brown sugar and light fruit underneath and a roasted, faintly bitter finish. The strength is assertive and the oak pronounced, so it asks for a good rest in the glass before it settles. A sharper, more austere Foursquare for drinkers who already know the house style. Bottled at 57.3%.
