A cask strength Foursquare from France’s Compagnie des Indes, vintage 2011 and aged 10 years in ex-bourbon oak, a single cask at 57.2%, unsweetened and made in the Bajan pot and column tradition.
Description
Foursquare in St Philip is the critics' darling of Barbados, the fourth generation distillery of Richard Seale built on a strict no-additives ethos. This independent release comes from Compagnie des Indes, the respected, terroir-led French bottler known for natural single casks. Vintage 2011 and aged 10 years in ex-bourbon oak, it is bottled at a hefty 57.2% without sugar or colour. Barbados works the classic pot and column blend, rich double-retort pot still married with cleaner Coffey column rum and oak aged, landing balanced between light Cuban and heavy Jamaican styles. In that house style expect toffee, brown sugar, ripe banana and vanilla over soft baking spice, here at cask strength so fuller and more intense. An honest, additive-free Bajan single cask.
