A fourteen year old island blend from Compagnie des Indes marrying Foursquare Barbados with Guyana’s Diamond, honeyed and woody with coconut, vanilla and burnt sugar leading into darker mocha, gentle and easy at 43%.
Description
CDI Barbagaya Foursquare Diamond 2007 is a fourteen year old island blend from Compagnie des Indes, the respected French bottler known for terroir led, broad origin releases. It marries Barbados rum from Foursquare with Guyana rum from Diamond, both aged in ex bourbon casks and bottled at a sociable 43%, pairing two distinct Caribbean styles in one approachable glass.
The Barbados component brings the Foursquare signature of coconut, honey and vanilla, while the Guyana adds a darker, mocha rich and lightly dirty layer underneath. The nose is woody with coconut, honey and candied fruit, the palate honeyed and roasted with burnt sugar, and the finish carries honey, barrel, lime and a menthol lift. At 43% it stays gentle, an easy after dinner sipper rather than a cask strength heavyweight, the blend balancing Barbadian sweetness against Guyanese depth. A relaxed, well composed pour to share, where the Foursquare nose and Diamond finish each get their say.
