Description

Compagnie des Indes, the terroir-led French bottler known for natural single casks, drew this ten-year Jamaican from a single ex-bourbon cask, distilled in 2008 and bottled at 57.9%. Labelled simply as a Jamaican blend, the spirit leans heavily on New Yarmouth's recognisable baked, cookie-like signature.

Distilled on pot still from molasses, it offers pineapple, ester and glue over vanilla on the nose, then a woody palate of tropical fruit, vanilla and spice with a smoky, honeyed finish. The funk is moderate rather than aggressive, which makes it an easy full-proof introduction to Jamaican character: there is weight and hogo here, but it stops well short of Hampden-level intensity. Certified unsweetened, it sips happily neat at strength and carries real cocktail potential.
