Description
Bodegas Castillo de Monjardín sits in central Navarre at the foot of the Pyrenees, in Villamayor de Monjardín, an area shaped by French history and viticultural tradition that favours varieties such as Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This rosé is made entirely from Merlot, an unusual choice in a region better known for Garnacha rosados. The cooler northern climate and altitude give a long, even ripening season, with warm days and cool nights that preserve the natural acidity behind the wine. The fruit is pressed gently and fermented at low temperature in stainless steel, a young winemaking style with no oak that protects the bright primary fruit and keeps the colour fresh. The wine shows a bright pink hue with bluish highlights. The nose is cheerful and fruit driven, with red berries and a touch of white peach over a light floral note. The palate is dry and crisp, with citrus lift and a clean, refreshing finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
