Description
Caselli Nocino Liquore Artigianale is a traditional Italian walnut liqueur from the Distilleria Galdino Caselli, made to an old family recipe in the Emilia-Romagna region from an infusion of fresh green walnut husks, the malli di noce, harvested in summer when their flavour is most intense. The husks are handled by hand and the liqueur rests for several months to build its dark, bittersweet character. It sits at a full 40%.
The nose is intense walnut with spice, vanilla, cocoa and a hint of coffee, and the palate is full bodied, spicy and slightly sweet, walnut with caramel and cinnamon over a gentle bitterness, closing long, soft and nutty. Behind the bar it brings nutty depth and a herbal bitterness that reads like an amaro: it stirs into dark, spirit forward and dessert drinks for weight and a bittersweet edge. It is most at home as a digestif after a meal, neat at room temperature or lightly chilled, alongside tiramisù, panna cotta or chocolate desserts. Serve it neat to close a meal.
