Description
Cascahuín is a 100% agave anejo from the Rosales family at NOM 1123 in El Arenal, a lowland tequila house that has made tequila in the same family for four generations since 1904. The distillery works in the artesanal tradition, drawing on cultivated agave from the tequila valley, and is listed among the additive checked producers on Tequila Matchmaker.
This anejo rests fourteen to sixteen months in American oak barrels, long enough to set the oak as a co lead with the agave. The nose offers raisin with fine notes of almond, peach and golden peanut, while the palate brings the natural flavours drawn from the American oak alongside a sweet, cooked agave sweetness. Bottled at 40%, it suits sipping neat as readily as building into a cocktail, an assertive El Arenal style softened by its time in wood.
