Description
Casal de Arman Blanco comes from the D.O. Ribeiro in inland Galicia, made from grapes grown on vineyards more than eighty years old, spread across different plots at varying heights on both banks of the Avia river valley. The old vines give low yields of concentrated, characterful fruit, while the granite soils and cool, Atlantic influenced climate keep the acidity fresh. This is a blend of the local Treixadura, Albarino and Godello. The grapes are hand harvested and selected, then pressed without destemming. Fermentation runs at a controlled 15 to 16 degrees in stainless steel over twenty days, with each plot and variety handled separately before the final blend is assembled and bottled in late May. Fermenting by parcel preserves the identity of each site and lets the winemaker balance the blend, while the cool, slow ferment protects the primary fruit and aromatics in a fresh, unoaked style. The colour is pale with green tints. The nose shows green apple and peach with citrus and white flowers. The palate is fresh and clean, with a saline mineral thread and a crisp finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It suits shellfish and lighter fish dishes.
