Celler Carlania works the native Trepat grape organically in Conca de Barberà. This natural rosé is made with minimal intervention and no additives, showing delicate strawberry and cherry, a floral lift and a light, dry palate.
Description
Carlania El Plantarga is a natural rosé from Celler Carlania, a small family winery in Barberà de la Conca in Catalonia's D.O. Conca de Barberà. The project centres on the area's native grape, Trepat, farmed ecologically, with wines made by minimal intervention and without additives so that each bottle reflects its origin and vintage. Conca de Barberà is a cool inland appellation, its higher altitude and limestone soils giving a long growing season that suits the light, fresh character of Trepat, a grape naturally low in colour and tannin and high in aromatic delicacy. The grapes take brief skin contact for a pale colour, then ferment with native yeasts in stainless steel to keep the wine fresh and primary. The colour is pale, bright pink. The nose is delicate, showing strawberry and cherry with a floral note of rose and white flowers. The palate is light and dry, with crisp acidity, gentle red fruit and a clean, faintly herbal finish. This is a low alcohol, easy drinking rosé. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees. It suits light fish, shellfish, salads and soft cheeses.
