A Cardhu, a distillery bottling, at 40%. Cardhu is one of the few distilleries shaped by women, and the home of Johnnie Walker. The Cumming family ran it for three generations before it passed to the Walkers.

Distilled in pear shaped stills for a soft, sweet spirit, for the soft, sweet make Cardhu is known for. A bourbon barrel held it, lending vanilla and a little cream. With no age statement, the oak has given vanillin as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over the soft, fruity spirit. The light spirit was built for the blender's art, easy and approachable. Cardhu's softness is what made it the heart of Johnnie Walker. The pear shaped stills give a light spirit that ages with grace. The distillery was known as Cardow until 1981, when it took the name Cardhu. It was rebuilt and expanded by Elizabeth Cumming, the Queen of the Whisky Trade, who sold it to John Walker and Sons in 1893.

Reduced to 40%, it is mellow. A light, honeyed orchard fruit, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The mouthfeel is smooth, the fruit carried on a honeyed body. The finish is soft, sweet and gently fruity. This is Cardhu, the home of Johnnie Walker.
