Capulet & Montague Brands bottles this Bonpland XO Reserve, a multi country column still blend at 40% matured in wine casks. The red wine influence is the distinctive feature, giving the rum an unusual fruity, vinous character that sets it apart from standard oak aged blends.

Column distilled from molasses and finished in wine barrels, it shows fruit, barrel, chocolate and red wine on the nose, with a fruity, woody palate carrying orange, and a finish of red wine and tropical fruit over a light alcoholic note. One drinker describes a medium bodied Jamaican base meeting the wine cask for a strange but pleasant sweetness. Sugar is undeclared, and the wine note divides opinion, but it stays round and easy neat, an approachable curiosity that also takes well to a mixer.
