Description
Caneco is a single-variety Albariño from Narupa Vinos in Galicia, the grape's Atlantic homeland in the far north west of Spain. Albariño thrives in this cool, wet, maritime climate, and its thick skins help it resist the damp while building aromatics and firm acidity. This wine is fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, with no oak, which is the classic way to make Albariño: cool-temperature fermentation and inert tanks preserve the primary fruit, the floral aromatics and the natural acidity, giving a pure, unadorned expression of the grape and its coastal setting. The colour is pale with green glints, and the nose is fresh and lifted, with lemon and green apple over ripe white peach and white flowers. The palate is dry, crisp and light on its feet, with citrus and orchard fruit carried by bright acidity to a saline, sea-breeze finish that is the signature of good Rías Baixas-style Albariño. This is a wine for freshness and for the table rather than for the cellar. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It is a natural aperitif and an ideal partner for seafood.
