Description
Camillo Donati works land in Emilia-Romagna that his grandfather Oreste planted in 1930, farming naturally and with minimal intervention. Ultima Messe is a skin-contact white from aromatic Malvasia and Moscato, two grapes prized for their perfume, which carries through clearly in this fresh style of orange wine. After fermentation on native yeasts the must spends time on its skins, taking colour, light grip and texture from the berries while keeping the floral, grapey character of the varieties. As a young 2024 made for early drinking, the wine stays on the bright, fruity side rather than the heavy oxidative end of the category, and it is bottled with little or no added sulphur. The colour is straw-yellow with golden highlights. The nose leads with white peach, apricot and white flowers over a rose note, and the palate is dry to off-dry and lightly textured, with citrus peel, pear and a honeyed, fresh finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
