Description
This is a Cameronbridge single grain, chosen and bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company, aged 24 year old and bottled at 50.7%. The outturn was 171 bottles. Cameronbridge is a vast Lowland grain distillery in Fife, working since 1824. It is one of the largest distilleries in Europe, making well over a hundred million litres a year.
It was worked through column stills from wheat, for the light, sweet grain spirit Cameronbridge is known for. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending coconut and vanilla. Mid age brings a deeper coconut and a buttery, dessert sweetness. The clean grain base lets the cask speak clearly across the years. The Haig distilling dynasty traces its roots in Scottish whisky back to the 1600s. The distillery sits at Windygates in the Kingdom of Fife, near the River Leven. Light grain spirit like this gains coconut and toffee from decades in active oak. Pot stills for malt whisky were removed in 1929, leaving Cameronbridge a pure grain plant.
At its natural 50.7% it is concentrated. The ex-Bourbon gives butterscotch, coconut and cream. Beneath it run coconut, vanilla and a soft oil. It finishes clean, sweet and buttery. This is an aged single grain from Diageo's largest distillery.
