Description
This is a Cameronbridge single grain, chosen and bottled by Jack Wiebers Whisky World, a 26 year old release distilled in 1991, from cask 231 and bottled at 56.4%. 120 bottles in all. Cameronbridge is a vast Lowland grain distillery in Fife, working since 1824. It is one of the largest distilleries in Europe, making well over a hundred million litres a year.
It was worked through column stills from wheat, for the light, sweet grain spirit Cameronbridge is known for. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding coconut and vanilla. By this age the sweet spirit rounds into vanilla, coconut and a soft oil. The clean grain base lets the cask speak clearly across the years. The Haig distilling dynasty traces its roots in Scottish whisky back to the 1600s. The distillery sits at Windygates in the Kingdom of Fife, near the River Leven. Light grain spirit like this gains coconut and toffee from decades in active oak.
At a natural 56.4% it is full and oily. The ex-Bourbon gives sweet vanilla and a buttery coconut. The mouthfeel is oily, the coconut carried on a sweet body. A warming, sweet finish lingers. This is an aged single grain from Diageo's largest distillery.
