From Claxton's comes this Cameronbridge, a 16 year old distilled in 2006, from cask C23075 and bottled at 58.6%. Only 130 bottles were released. Set in Fife, Cameronbridge has made grain whisky since 1824, the oldest plant of its kind in Scotland. A founding member of the Distillers Company in 1877, it is now Diageo's largest distillery.

Distilled continuously in column stills from wheat, on Loch Leven water, giving a clean, mellow grain whisky. Maturation in an unusual cask lent fruit to the grain. At this age the grain is light and sweet, vanilla and toffee to the fore. Grain whisky like this rewards long maturation, the wood adding most of the character. The distillery sits at Windygates in the Kingdom of Fife, near the River Leven. Light grain spirit like this gains coconut and toffee from decades in active oak. Pot stills for malt whisky were removed in 1929, leaving Cameronbridge a pure grain plant.

At cask strength 58.6% it is full bodied. The Port cask lays plum and red berry over the sweet grain. The texture is oily and buttery, the sweetness coating. The finish is deep, oily and creamy. This is Cameronbridge's light, sweet single grain.
