This Cambus was from the independent bottler Meadowside Blending, aged 28 year old distilled in 1990, from cask 55 and bottled at 48.3%. Just 218 bottles were filled. A lost Lowland grain distillery near Alloa, Cambus distilled from around 1806 until 1993. Single grain Cambus is rare, mostly from independent bottlers, with the odd Diageo Special Release.

It was worked through continuous column stills from grain, for the light, sweet grain spirit Cambus was known for. A sherry cask held it, the wood lending raisin and walnut. Past twenty five years the spirit turns oily and dessert sweet while staying clean. The clean grain base lets the cask speak clearly across long years. Cambus was founded around 1806 by John Moubray on the River Devon in Clackmannanshire, one of Scotland's oldest grain distilleries. It was one of the five grain distilleries that founded the Distillers Company Limited in 1877.

At a natural 48.3% it is full and oily. The Oloroso brings dried fruit and a nutty depth over the sweet grain. A crème brûlée and a polished oak give it depth. The finish runs buttery, soft and warm. This is an old Lowland single grain of real character.
